10 Westchester High Schools Ranked Among Nation's Best

by Joe Jenkins

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Ten Westchester County schools were named to Newsweek's top 500 schools recently.

Newsweek enlisted the help of research specialists at Westat to help compile their rankings.

Schools were ranked on standard performance indicators like standardized test scores, college readiness indicators like graduation rates and also took into account how well schools with economically disadvantaged students performed against the national average.

Blind Brook High School in Rye Brook took the highest ranking of all Westchester schools, coming in at no. 9.

Ardsley High School and Briarcliff High School were ranked closely behind at no. 15 and no. 17, respectively.

Other Westchester schools to make the list were: Hastings High School (No. 41), Pleasantville High School (No. 69), Dobbs Ferry High School (No. 70), Pelham Memorial High School (No.79), Croton Harmon High School (No.111), Hendrick Hudson High School (No.24Cool and Fox Lane High School (No.327).
