Well that BIG RED patch out on the left-coast, well that's where we live and while we've had summers where the temps were higher, this has been the hottest summer since we moved here 34 years ago in terms of the number of hot days in a row as well as the longest that we've had to have our air on. Usually we run the AC maybe a couple of weeks in August and then maybe another week or so into September. This year we've had to have the air on virtually continuously since early July. I only can only recall perhaps 2 or 3 days where we could leave it off. And the humidity has been higher than normal as well. It was in the 90's yesterday and it will hit 90 again today. Also they've called another 'flex alert' for today where they've asked everyone to cut back on power usage between 1:00pm and 6:00pm. Also, if it gets critical, they can cycle our AC on/off. We volunteered years ago to have the power company install a remote cut-off on our AC for which we get a discount on our power during the summer months. They can only shut it off once a day for a maximum of 4 hours and for this we get rebates of around $200 per year.

Now Clo, you know what Ribit would say about all of this. BTW, that little patch down in southern Illinois that is warmer than the rest is where we live.
