And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
The people referred to as "far off" are the Gentiles, me and you, who are not JEWS and not Christians, but rather are and were at enmity with GOD.
Jesus has become the MEDIATOR and only acceptable sacrifice to GOD for our sins and so stands as our Savior, our redeemer, and only hope of eternal life and heaven.
We were afar off. But not anymore thanks be to our Lord and Savior Jesus CHrist, to whom be glory forever and ever, amen!
