I'm surprised you thought Obama would deliberately advance Black Americans.

IMO, a White president would have a better chance to do that without recriminations & accusations of being bias.
Let's remember Rev Wright, I was surprised those revelations didn't have a larger negative effect on Obama.

One reason I voted for Obama in 2008 was because McCain/Palin wasn't an option!
I hoped he would have held GWB & Co accountable for 'torture'.
I hoped he would push congress to reinstate the Glass–Steagall law.

I voted for him in 2012 because I inherently root for the underdog & believe too many republicans in congress refused to work with him even at the detriment of America & Americans.

That said, Obama is NOT a good politician. He is a better candidate.
Its one thing to sell yourself, it another to work well with others.
Bill Clinton is a genius in this genre!
And I believe it was Bill Clinton's speech that revved voters up in 2012 & helped Obama.
And Obama's actions after Sandy & Christie's embrace that took him across the finish line.

Listen Obama entered the White House during the most dire time in current history, he was green & needed strong people around him. Many of those near him were the folks that helped him politically.
Republicans saw his weakness & took advantage. Instead of helping America OUT of the financial devastation they fought Obama at every turn.

The irony, even with Obama's weakness he won a second term. IMO, because more Americans resented how republicans have treated him.
