This will be the third time this particular orthopedic surgeon has cut on me. The first time was 26 years ago, when both he and I were much younger, when he repaired a broken finger that had to be internally stabilized, after drilling a hole the length of my finger he inserted a pin which stuck out the end of the finger and which I had to turn it a couple times a day. Internally the splintered bones were tied together with titanium wire, most of which is still in my finger:

The second time was 7 years ago when he had to replace a section of the tendon in my Right shoulder by splicing in an inch or so chunk of cadaver tendon to replace the shredded portion of mine. That was not arthroscopic surgery (which is what my knee is going to be tomorrow) but rather an open procedure which left quite a scar. I was out of work for 8 weeks (I should only miss a week at most with my knee):

In both cases I fully recovered and today have full use of my finger and my shoulder. I have full confidence in my doctor's abilities and skill and expect to recover quickly.
