But that's the issue, Cuban immigrants are NOT considered 'illegal' as long as they manage to make it onto American soil. If any of those kids turning themselves in at the Texas border were from Cuba they would be immediately moved, probably to Miami, where there are dozens of organizations set-up to house, feed and arrange for a permanent situation for them all with the blessing of the INS and the State Department, to say nothing of several Right wing groups and dozens of Republican politicians.
We feel for the folks in Central America with their violence and oppression. It would be great if we started a Marshall-like Plan for our southern neighbors.
Permitting illegal immigration into the U.S. is not a solution, whether it's from Cuba, Central America or Mexico. Has it helped any of those countries in the past?
