Quite true. Somewhere lost in the foggy figures is definitely a propensity for the Feds to do a little cheerleading to 'urge' the 'recovery' along it's way.

A four percent number is about as insignificant as a number can be. Most especially with the government pushing zero interest loans.

The Federal Government continues to flood the market with new debt.

They are spending because they are scared, not because they are confident.
