The Constitution itself makes amendment very difficult.

...it's supposed to make everything very difficult. The entire purpose of our constitution is to limit the power of government. That is a good thing. Not to say that we do't need some government and rules and regulations, but we have seen governments run amok before and the results are not pleasant for anyone. Making things difficult sorta discourages the lawmakers from fixing things that are not broken.

All twenty seven amendments were ratified after the Senate and the house approve by a 2/3 majority, and then it needs approval from 3/4ths of the States.

Congress plays a role. It does not amend.

And yes the other way would be by a Constitutional Convention. It hasn't ever happened, and odds are it never will.

The Constitution itself makes amendment very difficult.
