Tomorrow afternoon I fly to Turin, Italy by way of Madrid. I'm presenting at an engineering conference being co-sponsored by the Politecnico di Torino and GM Powertrain Italy. This will be my second visit to Turin and I hope to see more of the city this time around as my last visit was several years ago when we were trying to win Fiat as a customer and I spent most of the three days that I was there inside the Fiat engineering offices and never got to see much (for the record, we won Fiat's business and they've been a very good customer since, most recently bringing us Chrysler as a new customer as well).
My only concern is that a few weeks ago I hyper-extended my Left knee and it has been giving me problems ever since. On Monday I had an MRI and I just learned yesterday that I have a torn meniscus and will need surgery to repair it. My doctor, not my orthopedist, as he's out-of-town at the moment, says that if it were up to him he wouldn't go, but he won't stop me as the pain is not a severe as he had expected it to be (he claims that I should be in wheelchair but I have no problem walking or standing just that it's very tender). Anyway, he's fitted me with a knee brace and has given me a prescription for some of the 'good stuff' for pain. I'm also going to take a cane with me just in case.
Anyway, I'll be gone nine days returning on Saturday, Aug 2nd, so wish me luck, eh
