It's surprising how you are sceptical of the words of Western leaders and yet you swallow Putin's lies whole.
Which means you apply principles to the behaviour of Western leaders but you allow Putin a free pass.... because hypocrisy.
So you yourself operate on a prejudiced basis. The prejudice being against the West and in favour of despots.
Putin invaded the Crimea using troops without insignia and wearing masks. The fact he also had other folks stationed there is neither here nor there. The treaty did not provide a capacity for annexation.
