Similar changes here over the past few years, all appliances high efficiency, water usage is way down, drip system is able to keep up within a total drip time of about 12 minutes, but in a sequence from front to side to rear yards, with an ethernet monitorable controller... Draught tolerant plantings, a few of those couldn't seal with the freezing weather, so a few changes...

Lighting almost all CFL, a few fixtures have clear globes, no real substitute so far... I'm watching for deals on LEDs for the cans, cooler, longer life, etc.. In the travel trailer, LED lamps are still very high, but I'll start swapping key fixtures as soon as I can. I can go a couple seek, dry camping now, if we're careful, with LEDs, it will be the water supply that will be the limitation...

Meantime I can't get my oldest brother, 83, to even consider changing, the bulbs he has work, but maybe I'll just start giving him CFLs every time I see him..

Costco had some dimmable LED kits for cans on sale a couple weeks ag, but still $13 or $14 a copy.. I'd like to see it under $10...

We switched to low flow, right height toilets a few years back, inlaw liked them so well he did the same at all his homes. He'd gone to low flow in all the rentals several years ago, took out all garbage disposals, cut maintenance calls and water cost by aa huge percentage...

We're in the middle of a multi-year drought and the power company is calling a 'flex-alert' for tomorrow in anticipation of there being a power shortage here in SoCal due to the heat, which is not helping our drought situation. Efficient lightbulbs and low-flow toilets are just part of what is needed if we're going to maintain anything close to our current lifestyle.

In our case, in the last 3 years we've replaced all our our windows with dual pane, low-emissive glass. Replaced virtually all of our incandescent lights with CFL's or LED's (actually we're about 90/5/5 LED's to CFL's to incandescent). Replaced our toilets with dual-flush, low-flow models. And most recently purchased new a HE (High Efficiency) washer and dryer pair. As well as taking other energy saving measures. We also allow the power company to remotely cycle our AC unit in case of a pending power shortage.

We all need to do our part.
