But that's the whole point, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights were DESIGNED so that this issue should never have needed to come before the courts in the first place. Can you imagine the outrage from the Right if the Courts suddenly started to pick apart the wording and meaning of the 2nd Amendment to the extent that they've tortured the meaning behind the establishment clause in the 1st Amendment over the years? And how is it that the president shouldn't be spending his time defending the rights of ALL Americans? If a single innocent child is spared the humiliation and harassment at the hands of another child or adult simply because they talked funny or their outward appearance was such that some misguided fanatic was convinced that somehow this child DESERVED to be bullied for what he or she 'was' (at least in their minds), then the time spent by ANY person in a position to stop this sort of thing would NOT have been time wasted.
One of our granddaughters has a speech impediment which her parents have had her in speech therapy for several years trying to overcome (and she has come a long way). I'm just glad that she's a girl because if it had been a grandson I can only imagine how he might have been treated by his classmates, particularly where they live in Texas where there seems to be one of those 'Six Flags over Jesus' mega-churches in every other town.
