hi dig,

first time i've watched it, but i remember that it happened.

very interesting to hear the crowd. it was quiet at first. then suddenly it seemed collectively engaged. finally, enraptured.

i think it was founded on three things. the rhythm. the sincerity. and the argument.

he refused to be cowed by reagan's sunny optimism, which glossed over the problems in his economic vision. the america we have inherited is the one cuomo saw in reagan's shining city. only far more divided.

the only thing i might have been a bit more explicit about is the idea that there's more strength in breadth of opportunity, more wealth created by giving a small amount of opportunity to many than a gigantic amount to a few. that in fact, cooperation creates both a moral society and a more robust and healthy one.

because in the end, the politics requires an emphasis on hope, even if the issues provide the reason to want it.

that's interesting, i have long held that my efforts at writing are about cadence and rhythm. in that sense I am doing spoken english, not written english. perhaps that is why I am drawn to your style, it projects an oratorial style, which to me at least is what I value in communication.

I love a good speach.

I still watch this every once in a while, and I shiver, and it only takes 8 minutes of my life:

that guy owns cadence
