So you are saying that at 0.53 Max Mach operating
the Engine is only operating at less than 40% or
so max thrust/Power,it has 60% more Power
available in reserve,50% odd more it is rated for.

That the only thing limiting the use of that
extra rated power is the restriction that limits
airframe maintenance costs?

Tis a wonder why GE,R-R etc bother to make so
many variations of engines for the same & different Aircraft with different max Engine thrusts when they all apparently only use 40% of their available Power......Smile

0.53 is the maximum operating velocity, which is a speed limit for operating an aircraft while managing wear and tear and maintaining passenger safety.

so the fact an engine can exceed its maximum thrust by 10% is neither here nor there.

one relates to the capacity of an engine to produce power. the other describes a restriction that limits maintenance costs.
