I can spot a circular conversation here.

No point in going any further.

My position remains that as an aircraft approaches the speed of sound, this creates stress on the frame of an aircraft; and that the speed of sound is lower at higher altitudes. I believe that wikipedia and NASA are likely correct in contending that the shock waves produced at mach 0.86 are the same at whatever altitude. This is consistent with the account of the pilot who tested the plane's capabilities in the simulator. I also distinguish operating velocities and break up velocities, as well as ground and air speeds.

Clearly you dispute most of these things. You should believe whatever you wish.

"Sure. The maximum velocity is apparently always Mach 0.86 for that plane. Whatever the altitude."

You know the statement above is FALSE,you know
FAA & BOEING DATA says differently, yet you take
the False DATA of a Blogger over the FAA & BOEING.

Why??? because it fits your pre-conceived conclusion
whereas the FAA & Boeing data proves your statement
False!
