hi clo,
and i think i suggested it before biden!
my reasoning is that the kurds need their own country.
and if the kurds can move along, why must the sunni and shia moslems coexist?
someone, somewhere wants to force a liberal ideal of a multicultural society onto the arab world. but the reality of moslem belief systems won't support it. islamic societies place religion into the political mix or they employ the army to prevent it. there's no such thing as a stable secular liberal democracy anywhere along the islamic crescent.
and frankly, that's a worrying thing for western mixed cultures. islam ain't the religion of peace. by any observable measure. in fact, islam means submission. submission to god. but submission all the same.
these things don't mix easily.
and i say this as someone who knows that islam was once the religion of toleration. relatively speaking. and at times, moslem culture was the most advanced in the world. but thugs like ISIS have no relationship with Harun al Raschid or Sallah al Din or Omar Khayyam or other folks from those halcyon days.
