Kings Beat Rangers to Win Stanley Cup
The Los Angeles Kings won their second Stanley Cup in three years with a 3-2 double overtime victory over the Rangers on Friday night at Staples Center that gave them a four games to one series win.
The Kings’ remarkable run began in the first round, when they rallied after trailing the San Jose Sharks by three games to none. In the second round they defeated the Anaheim Ducks in Game 7 on the road, and in the Western Conference finals ousted the defending champion Chicago Blackhawks in Game 7 in Chicago.
The Rangers finished their overachieving playoff run at 13-12. They were the first team to lose the finals in fewer than six games since 2007.
