Hi OCU:

A troubling question. I have no rote answer. I do know the last thing I would have done is sponsor a Sunni insurgency in neightboring Syria, after freeing thousands of mostly Sunni terrorists in Iraq.

Usually it is best to kill captives in an irregular war, if you intend on winning. See Northern Alliance treatment of Al Qaeda prisoners in Afghanistan in 2001 when they smothered all of them.

America doesn't have the stomach for this, so we ended up freeing the enemy so we could leave Iraq unencumbered. Now we have more of the people who were not our enemies dying and suffering over there, and the bad guys are on the march.

Obama seemed to be in a awful hurry to free terrorists from Camp Bucca since the prison was closed down in September, 2009.

And what would you have suggested that we do with 26,000 of what I assume were listed as POW's? Just shoot them? Lock the doors and walk way letting them starve? And I'll bet that they were actually released to the Iraqi authorities first, so if they're on the streets, it was not the US that technically put them there.
