From 1956, Pro-Jobs, Pro Union, Pro Social Security, they left it all behind to support the religious nuts, the racists, Kochs, Chickenhawks, War... In '56 the Korean war was still fresh in America's minds...

"Young Republicans Salute Labor" the poster proclaimed back then. They were saluting 66 million union members. Notice the nice touch of the lunch pail held by the elephant! The Bureau of Labor Statistics noted only 14 1/2 million union members last year in 2013. So while the numbers have shrunk dramatically, the GOP still maintains a salute--the type that's done with 1 finger extended.
