...well yes, but they won't keep ya from getting poisoned or electrocuted or drowned. It won't even protect you from blowing your own brains out or drinking yourself to death. My point being that when they say nine hundred somebhing died while wearing body armor gives the impression that they were shot. Not true at all.
BTW: body armor will not protect you from a stabbing. Knife will go right thru it.
