Hi Zim:
Sea ice around Antarctica has spread over an increased area recently, but sea ice is only a small fraction of the Antarctic ice sheet. The reasons for the increase of sea ice doesn't appear to be related to temperatures. Ice loss of the West Antarctica glaciers also doesn't seem to be caused by changes in air temperatures.
Filthy Neocon Scum love to use the increase in sea ice to hide the truth and mislead their winger audiences. See currents, wind, and warmer ocean waters for increase of sea ice and increase in glacial melting. There may be other factors in play. Climate is complex.
