A lot of people don't have the legal documents these states are demanding that people produce before they can even get a photo-ID. For example, my wife doesn't have an 'official' birth certificate, but she has managed to get drivers licenses in both Michigan and California as well as a passport so I think she's safe if we ever move.

I don't understand why the Obama people can't get their supporters to obtain photo IDs. They are almost mandatory if you want to be a legally functioning citizen in the U.S. Are they really this helpless and hopeless?
