U.S. Marshal Shoots Defendant
A defendant in a federal courthouse in Salt Lake City was shot multiple times in the chest Monday during the first day of his trial. Siale Angilau, an alleged member of the Tongan Crips gang, is on trial accused of shooting two deputy U.S. marshals in August 2007. He was shot in court by a U.S. marshal when he reportedly charged the witness on the stand with a pen or pencil, said Mark Dressen, the FBI's assistant special agent in charge. Angilau’s condition is unknown, but he was breathing when he was carried out of the court. The witness was unharmed.
