Not the past.

Civilizations known and loved . . .

The Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas . . . The Chinese have
had civilizations for thousands of years. How about
the Minoans or the Holy Roman Empire? Egypt?

Civilization . . depends on how one defines the word.
But, I have no problem agreeing that 'We' have
civilization today.

The Past?
The Past is a roadmap for how today's civilization came to be.

The Past is littered with examples of what a civilized peoples ought not do.

One ignores the examples from history at their peril.

Knowledge is how we guage human advancement.
Science is how we quantify what we know.

Denying knowledge is a form of gross idiocy.
Denying science defines a fool.

Civilization is a belief in the future.
Not the past.
