The FEAR of the LORD is the BASIS for so much of human understanding and growing in the grace and admonition of the Lord. The first chapter of Proverbs lays out this foundation for us.
Proverbs 1: 7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
ALL KNOWLEDGE we will ever have about our GOD STARTS with o a reverent and holy fear of WHOM we have to do with, the CREATOR of ALL THINGS!
Proverbs 1: 29
For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
Here we see that KNOWING GOD is a conscious choice and a decision that ALL have to make!
Proverbs 9: 10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
KNOWLEDGE of the LORD brings about WISDOM.
WHAT is wisdom? Wisdom is APPLying knowledge in the correct manner that GOD has prescribed through instruction in HIS HOLY WORD.
Proverbs 10: 27
The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened .
THE FEAR, or holy reverence of GOD will prolong your years. There is a direct correlation between one's closeness to GOD and how long they will live upon the face of the earth. The opposite is true for those who scorn God and refuse HIM.
Proverbs 14: 26
In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
The child of GOD who has a wonderful relationship with HIM has great confidence and HE and HIS children have a place of refuge in time of trouble!!!
Proverbs 14: 27
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
WITHOUT KNWOING GOD, having a personal relationship with HIM, being HIS CHILD through Jesus CHrist HIS SON and OUR REDEEMER, one will not escape the snare of the eternal death of Hell and the Lake of Fire, which burn forever and ever.
My friends, it is better to RUN to the CROSS of Calvary and ask for mercy and forgiveness from the ONE who ALLOWED HIMSELF to be NAILED on a ROMAN CROSS, and allowed a SPEAR to be thrust into his side so that YOUR SINS and mine would be PAID IN FULL if we only ask HIM to save us! You are loved and HE wants you to come to HIM. Wisdom is coming to Jesus Christ and accepting HIS free gift of eternal life and becoming a child of the KING, living forever in a mansion HE has made for you in heaven as HE promised. Jesus, who IS GOD, CANNOT LIE so when he says COME UNTO ME and I will give you rest, and "no man comes to the FATHER BUT BY ME", the creator of the universe, sun, moon, stars and all the planets, and named every single one,
HE means it. He will take you JUST AS YOU ARE.
Being a Christian is not about being perfect!
Only JESUS is perfect.
Being a Christian is all about accepting HIS FORGIVENESS and PARDON for our sins and UN-perfectness.
WISDOM is RUNNING to CHRIST today while you still have breath and life. After that, it will be too late.....
Come to Jesus and simply ask HIM to forgive you and to save you, and have your name recorded in HIS BOOK of Life.
