It appears that the 5 conservative justices have, in effect, actually DONE exactly what Justice Thomas wanted to do.

Since there is now no longer a limit on the total amount of money that a billionaire can donate he could effectively set-up 1,000 PAC's, donate $5,000 to each one and then have those 1,000 PAC's give that money directly to a candidate, in essence it would be the same as if he wrote a single check to the candidate for $5,000,000. And if you don't think that that's what's going to happen, you must have been sleeping these past few years? We have just turned our country over to the highest bidder.

I guess we can stop worrying about all those nasty voter ID laws since in a few years elections will be all but meaningless since the only people who will have enough money to run for office will be the ones 'selected' by the 3 or 4 richest families in America (or of that matter, the richest in the world).

And did you see where Clarence Thomas said that if it were up to him, he would have allowed billionaires to pay for a candidate's entire campaign for office, just write them as big a check as they needed? This way, two of three billionaires could have 'purchased' a veto-proof congress to enact whatever laws they saw fit.
