And as in so many cases like this, black defendants in Southern states, the prosecutor's office withheld evidence from the court and the defense which would have exonerated Ford. In fact, the judge stated that in this particular case, if this information had been made public when it was given to the prosecutor, that there's a chance that Ford would have never even been charged with a crime let alone gone to trial.

A textbook case shows the 'death penalty' for what it is barbaric & cruel. Thank goodness this man lived despite having to live much of his life behind bars...

Louisiana's longest-serving death row prisoner walks free after 30 years

According to the Capital Post Conviction Project of Louisiana, a judge ordered that Ford be freed Monday after prosecutors petitioned the court to release him.

New information corroborated what Ford had said all along: that he was not present at nor involved in the November 5, 1983, slaying of Isadore Rozeman, the project said.
