Assembly Majority Leader Bill Kramer to check into treatment facility
Assembly Majority Leader Bill Kramer — accused of sexually harassing at least two women while in Washington, D.C., for a recent fundraiser — announced Saturday that he is entering a treatment facility for unspecified reasons.
"Representative Bill Kramer has checked himself into a treatment facility," said Cameron Sholty, Kramer's chief of staff. "There will be no further comment at this time."
Kramer, 49, was to talk to Assembly Republican leaders on Saturday to discuss his status as majority leader. Sources tell No Quarter that Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) and other top Republicans want Kramer to step down as the No. 2 official in the state Assembly.
The Journal Sentinel has reported that at least two women are accusing Kramer, a Waukesha Republican, of sexually harassing them while he was in Washington for a joint fundraiser for Assembly and Senate Republicans. The big-dollar event is held annually in D.C.
