He was acquitted after a judge ruled the former Marine had acted in self-defense and was in accordance with Florida’s “Stand Your Ground law.

...would you be happier if the blind guy was dead?

Blind man gets his guns back after shooting, killing friend
Posted on February 25, 2014 | By John-Henry Perera

A legally blind man had a personal request after being acquitted of shooting and killing his friend in Geneva, Florida.

He wanted his guns back.

John Rogers, 40, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of James Dewitt, 34, in March 2012, the NY Daily News reports. He was acquitted after a judge ruled the former Marine had acted in self-defense and was in accordance with Florida’s “Stand Your Ground law.

Reportedly, Dewitt and Rogers were involved in some kind of brawl which resulted in Rogers shooting his friend with a .308-caliber rifle.

Following the acquittal, the judge reluctantly granted Rogers’ request to be reunited with his guns, WESH-TV reports. He did destroy all the ammunition because it was old and dangerous.
