As a "Liberal" of the "Slinkiest" kind, I agree with your interpretation, although as an attorney I tend to think that his blood alcohol level should have made a first degree conviction easier for the jury to accomodate.

...if he was intoxicated, I think it would fall under the same rule that would govern if he had gotten loaded and ran over the kid with his car. "Not first degree murder" because it didn't fit the law.

The man knew the caliber of his own weapon. He knew the quality of the rounds. He knew he would penetrate the body of the vehicle. He knew fatal injury would likely occur.

...IMHO, at the time he started shooting he intended to kill everyone in the car.

Most people don't carry weapons. And even fewer people carry weapons in public.

...check the homicide rates sportfan. These folks are not being strangled with bunji cords. Besides, what's the fun of carrying a gun around in private???

The killer is a gun carrier. He thinks more people have guns than actually do. The killer lives in an armed world because he is armed. The killer is carrying a gun because he will use it.

...I have a carry permit, and have had for about 50 years. Never shot anyone. Never want to. I leave my guns at home in a gun safe or in the truck if I am going hunting, fishing or camping. I only carry if I am hiking. A few years back we had two University of Ga professors out for a hike and they were set upon and killed by a pack of dogs. In Georgia ya have to have a carry permit for a handgun even if you are out for a walk in the woods.

I say in a world where you can let lunatics roam the streets with concealed weapons it makes sense to kill a few to make the others behave.

...fine with me, but let's not just restrict this to when the victim is black and the perp is white. Let's do it for everybody. If the black kid had shot the older white guy, "slinky" liberals would be screaming about rehabilitating him and how useful he could be to society. When laws are enforced equally on all citizens they tend to be fairer.

Liberals are like a "Slinky". Totally useless, but somehow ya can't help but smile when you see one tumble down a flight of stairs!

Good Evening Ribit!

As a "Liberal" of the "Slinkiest" kind, I agree with your interpretation, although as an attorney I tend to think that his blood alcohol level should have made a first degree conviction easier for the jury to accomodate.

And then they could blow his head off, or electrocute him, or poison him, or perhaps use gas. Whatever.

The man knew the caliber of his own weapon. He knew the quality of the rounds. He knew he would penetrate the body of the vehicle. He knew fatal injury would likely occur.

Most people don't carry weapons. And even fewer people carry weapons in public.

The killer states that he thought his victim had a gun.
