That's generally how the placebo effect has been
explained and accepted to work within a physical
matter reality........but it becomes really stretched
in certain cases such as it's discovery in a WW2 field
hospital using saline as a placebo for morphine.

But the same placebo effect has now been shown to
work with physical invasive surgery and physical
bone matter...at the heart of physical matter reality.

In an illusory world believing you had the operation
& actually having the operation are the same thing...
thus same result...one cannot say the same if one holds to the belief of a physical matter reality.....

Even if one still believes in a PMR,surely you
must now hold the belief in the remarkable power of your mind to heal your body......just by your Belief and your doctor's Intent....Smile

but surely it is possible to explain the placebo effect in some way that's similar to the effect of anxiety (or if you wish for a positive, tranquillity) on the immune system. Perhaps in a way that involves instructions for the release of hormone-like chemicals.

the brain is not a different system to the body. they are connected.

if this is a viable explanation, then the placebo effect isn't inconsistent with your theory but it doesn't provide evidence for it either.
