" as long as it's snowing in the Sierra's we'll have water to drink next year and the farmers will be able to irrigate their crops."

OCU - The operative phrase here is "as long as" - And, thatis extremely problematic and questionable.

I'm sorry to say. Sad

While it would be nice to have rain here locally, as long as it's snowing in the Sierra's we'll have water to drink next year and the farmers will be able to irrigate their crops. On your 'Drought-monitor' that us in that RED (Extreme Drought) area just below the really DARK RED (Exceptional Drought) blotch.

As for the Great lakes area, I fly to Detroit on Monday for two days of meetings with our distributors and partners as well as a day at the GM Tech Center, before flying home on Friday. I'm glad to see that it will be warming somewhat but the snow could be problematic in terms of messing with air travel and such.
