"But, what we really need to do is to drastically shrink the welfare state."

OK, lets start with farm subsidies and tax credits to oil companies.

OCU> So you're saying that we should seriously consider closing those loop-holes which the rich have always managed to leverage to their advantage, eh? If that's what you're suggesting, I'm with you 100%.

Well.
That is one of the things Reagan did - and Reagan
brought U.S. a genuine economic recovery. (From
the Carter stagflation.)

Yeah, close the loopholes and lower the rates.
I'd like that.

But, what we really need to do is to drastically
shrink the welfare state. We need lots of 'value
producing' jobs which spit out pay checks and tax
payments.

If we don't . . I see two futures. One, we bankrupt
ourselves and wipe out those who bought American
paper. Or, two, we print money to the point we get
hyperinflation until everything collapses.

Zim.
