The 90% marginal tax rates remained in place well pass the war. And it wasn't just for people with $250,000 or more in taxable income. If you had $100,000 in taxable income the tax rate was still around 85%.

...I suppose we could have refused to accept any surrenders and just gone on with the war indefinitely, but since it was over and paid for and since the tax was 'temporary' in the first place, it woulda looked bad.
