That was before I realised TPMs provide not only robust identity information but also boundaries that are porous with respect to government intrusion.
And this means that trusted computing becomes an extension of the government's surveillance. It identifies (or helps secure the identity of) the user and the device and so it allows the NSA always to know who is using every device and what they are up to.
Only way to explain NSA's enthusiasm, if you ask me. NSA has no history of supporting security without subverting it.
