either that, or perhaps you are missing the spacial relationship between the tongue and the cheek of my observation.
folks are often partisan. party over principle.
witness msnbc. they were against these sorts of things when bush was president. they are for them now.
me, i hold a few truths to be self-evident.
one of these is that an overmighty state is as bothersome as an undermighty one. i don't care who is in power because this is always true.
another self-evident truth. humanity doesn't stop at the border. i kinda believe that one of the continuous issues the world faces is the top dog problem. in every generation, the top dog in the global pack tends to bully the smaller dogs. there's some value in pointing this out.
a third one is that folks clearly are not created equal and no wealthy, slave-owning, pre-darwinian grandee is going to persuade me it ain't so. we have to do some work to derive whatever equality and justice we can from the world.
a fourth one is that politicians words have only a loose correlation with their actions. the change is only the change if things change. otherwise it's just the same old story with a different cover.
