interesting that the program itself is illegal, per the latest report.

if the program is illegal, how can snowden be put on trial for revealing it?

it isn't illegal to blow the whistle on an illegal government program. that is what they made whistleblowing legislation to protect.

so why would anyone think it was worth anyone's time to try him?

what is inconvenient is the folks all the way at the top were revealed for what they are. snoops. bathroom peepers. voyeurs. it's embarrassing. it's embarrassing because they have been doing it. all snowden revealed was their hypocrisy.

obama was also revealed as a windbag. not the change but the continuity. at least with cheney you knew what you were getting.

fortunately, we don't do justice by opinion poll!

also, if we poll the world, which is the relevant population, i have little doubt that the majority is not for putting him on trial. generally, i suspect folks are very grateful that he revealed a major league bad actor on the internet.

but how many would put the us on trial for various crimes? torture (whoops, enhanced interrogation)? illegal surveillance (excuse me, total information awareness)? assassination (i mean the drone programme)? kidnapping (er, secret rendition)?

looks like a bit of a pattern, doesn't it?

the surprising thing is the number of democrats who were against such things when bush was president and who are for them under obama.

i'm trying to figure what might have changed their minds. Wink
