Obama made several mistakes wrt the economy.

He allowed republicans to call his bluff in 2010 with the debt ceiling & allowing the Bush tax cuts for the top tier to stay pat.

From that time until recently, none of them had respect for the power of the office.
Only after they shut the government down this last time did they feel the anger & power of the PUBLIC.
That gave Obama some muscle to stand up to them wrt the debt ceiling. Lets see if that continues.

Obama should have gone after the GWB administration for their criminal behavior. Yet, for the most part he has continued much of those policies with some tweaks.

I don't think he dd this with malice, but was unprepared for the daunting mess he inherited.
He's learning on the job & many (poor & middle class) are paying the price for his education...

And the tax cuts that George W. Bush got enacted immediately upon taking office had nothing whatsoever to do with this, eh? And then there was all of that off-the-books spending for two questionable wars… At least with Obama, the deficit numbers are real and they ARE COMING DOWN.
