hi clo,

the argument about the minimum wage is that if you raise it, jobs disappear.

this is definitely intuitive.

it is counter-intuitive to think that jobs do not disappear when the minimum wage is raised. and yet the evidence seems to support it if the raise is modest rather than extreme and the jobs are non-transferrable.

indeed, this is just the sort of way that governments can gently influence the distribution of wealth in society. it may be morally defensible. but the economic rationale is that you want more people to have spare income so they can use it to consume goods, build their own businesses etc.

Hi Cactus Flower,

a rising tide lifts all boats, but we are in stagnant waters...

and its times like these a dictator-like candidate can rise, playing to the fears of the public.

these wealthy few, need to remember why Ford did well, he paid a wage so the employees could buy the product.

Walmart employees are being subsidized by food stamps & Medicaid, yet many republicans are opposed to raising the minimum wage... infuriates me!
