Supreme Court Deals Defeat to Pro-Lifers
In a blow to anti-abortion activists, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal from Arizona asking to reinstate a state law that banned most abortions after 20 weeks. As is the custom, there was no reason offered by the justices. The law was enacted in 2012 and prohibited abortions except in medical emergencies, which were narrowly defined. About a dozen other states have laws that ban most abortions after 20 weeks.
