Clo:

I drank modestly, but was a bit of a binge drinker, not understanding why one would have a drink if they weren't seeking the effects. I found alcohol was mostly confined to receational evenings whereas one can do drugs or smoke pot all day long. I don't believe alcohol ever interfered with my responsibilities as a man (thank goodness). It's different for different folks. Glad you were so successful.

Haven't seen my wife or kids take a drink in twenty years.

KTC:

I agree with your son & would include alcohol.
When you abuse drugs & or alcohol you ruin your life & the lives of loved ones.

Alcohol was my drug of choice for about 3 years. I dabbled a little with drugs when I was drunk & my fears were numbed.

Sunday I celebrated 30 years of recovery.
My youngest son was there to bring up my cake. In the car he said, "Mom I so proud of you. I don't know how you do it?"
I told him, a day at a time. No matter what mistakes I make today they are NOT going to be the type of mistakes I could make if I was drinking.

My prayer is that he too will know the freedom from alcohol. He hasn't had a drink for nearly 2 months. He's doing it on his own. He deserves a support system too.

Off to a meeting ;)) be back later.
