KTC:

I agree with your son & would include alcohol.
When you abuse drugs & or alcohol you ruin your life & the lives of loved ones.

Alcohol was my drug of choice for about 3 years. I dabbled a little with drugs when I was drunk & my fears were numbed.

Sunday I celebrated 30 years of recovery.
My youngest son was there to bring up my cake. In the car he said, "Mom I so proud of you. I don't know how you do it?"
I told him, a day at a time. No matter what mistakes I make today they are NOT going to be the type of mistakes I could make if I was drinking.

My prayer is that he too will know the freedom from alcohol. He hasn't had a drink for nearly 2 months. He's doing it on his own. He deserves a support system too.

Off to a meeting ;)) be back later.

Clo:

I have a strong aversion to recreational drugs. Fortunately I was a bit old to have gotten involved (missed the drug scene). With my compulsive personality, I would be mainlining heroin. Fortunately, I am a smoker and pot mostly just makes me cough and gag.

My son got hooked on cocaine years ago when living in Florida. He moved back into my house as a young adult businessman, and took two years to definitively kick the habit and association with other drug users. I vividly recall two of his quotes - "Dad, drugs turn you into a piece of shit." and "Drugs steal your honor".
