but city is better than both teams. thank goodness they are inconsistent.

arsenal with a top drawer striker would be about the same standard. but it's hard to buy them.

hi doma,

i think chelsea has the makings of a brilliant team. i just don't think the team matches the mourinho template.

mourinho likes muscular athletes who overwhelm the opposition more through force and defensive organisation than subtlety. his normal model is to absorb pressure and then counter-attack fast. but he's got a whole bunch of wenger type players who are small, clever and nimble on his books. they ought to be brilliant at the patient, possession style of game.

he could make something of them if he organises them differently and asks them to work the ball forward at a less frantic pace. looking at the two teams, i think they are equal in quality. as i said previously, i'd love wenger to take torres because i think he fits the arsenal model well in the giroud role. hold the ball up, push it back to the midfielders, glide forwards towards the box and wait for a clever passing sequence to his feet. he's also fast enough to break forward with walcott. but he isn't big enough to act as a mourinho battering ram.
