also, i looked up radius for this particular geometrical meaning in an ancient greek dictionary yielding no results.

the greek for god is theos, by the way. so you'd be looking for a word like ra-theos rather than ra-deus when thinking about archimedes and the greek mathematicians.

whereas the greek ῥάδις or radis (meaning spoke) which is the Greek equivalent of the Latin word has a delta rather than a theta in its middle.

has it occurred to you that that is a translation?

and also that archimedes was a greek and radius is a latin word?

perhaps the original greek used half the diameter. i doubt he used a word like radius from the ignorant romans.

diameter is a greek word, though!

the etymological folks may not be as dumb as you think they are.
