As a child growing up, there was always great excitement wrapped around the Christmas season. What did Santa bring? What gifts were under the tree? Would I get what I really wanted? As I've grown older, the excitement is still there, but the thoughts have changed. It's not how big or expensive the present is that matters. Some of my best presents have been some of least expensive when thought of in terms of dollars.

This week was a prime example. The young lady that keeps my house in good order, took the time and trouble to bake us home made Christmas cookies. Home made Christmas cookies! They melted in our mouths! Store bought just do not compare!

Yes - we left her our typical Christmas present of some cash - but I can't help but feel that while this beautiful angel gave us a pot of gold, all we left her in return was a handful of ashes.

Time and age - it opens our eyes to the really important things in life.
