BAP

IS it one LONG BEEP and two short beeps?

These BEEPS are caused by the BIOS telling you what the error is.

Look here at the error beep codes:

http://forums.devshed.com/motherboards-106/boot-problem-2-beeps-at-post-187734.html

Notice there is an AMI bios and an Award/Phoenix bios.

The problem is either the Video card or it is memory.

The beeps are important to help determine where the culprit is.

1 long and two short beeps is a video card error.

Try removing the video card entirely if the motherboard has on board video? You can tell by looking at the rear of computer and see if there is a VGA connector on the back of the computer next to where your connectors for the mouse and keyboard are.

If you have one, remove the video card and plug your monitor into the onboard video connector and see what happens.

Otherwise you may need to try re-seating your MEMORY into the slots. Remove the memory sticks and then re-insert them one at a time. With onle seated in place, try starting the computer. See if it works.

If so, turn it off and then re-insert the second memory stick. Turn on computer and see what happens.

If it beeps at you, that stick you just installed is BAD.

Keep me posted on what you try and do and I will see if I can walk you through this.

Changing the operating system is NOT going to help this particular problem. This is your computer's BIOS giving you an error code for HARDWARE, not software as in the operating system.

I know time and location is an issue. When you get a chance to look, and try these things, let us know please?

Good luck with it!

Sorry guys. My backup computer has been sitting idle for several weeks. I have to check for the latest symptoms before I ask what to do.

Last time I tried it it wouldn't boot. Two beeps and one beep. Some say it's the motherboard. Some say it's the video card. I took out the Titan and put in a non-folding video card. Same thing. That suggests it's not the video card. I think micro suggested to try installing XP to get rid of Windows 7. I was ready to do that, but now can't. I will try to give you an update when I get back to the house in a few days.

It's a shame to waste 100k points per day.

My other desktop is working.
