...if the government had the capability of preventing crime, there would be no need for jails. They can't prevent anything. Cops arrive after the fact and pursue those responsible for the crime, but that usually does the victim no good. Just as there is a reasonable expectation that a person should do something for his food, shelter, clothing and healthcare, there is a reasonable expectation that a reasonable person would take steps to protect themselves, not just scream for mama and daddy gubmint to arrive and save em. When you need help in mere seconds, the cops are only minutes away.
