Some reasonable thoughts indeed.
Unfortunately most of the far Right, which now includes virtually all of the Republicans, whether they be tea baggers or merely someone appealing to the basic prejudices of their state or congressional district, are totally opposed to your points of view.
I mean, have you heard anyone on the Right say what you've said about the EPA or the FDA? Or the idea that the average consumer, the 'little dude', needs to be protected from the 'rich and powerful', like corporations, lobbyists and political action groups representing narrow-minded interests supported by individuals with more than enough money to buy/bribe the people who were ostensibly voted into office by the same 'little dudes' and who thinks that they're in Washington to represent them? I really doubt it.
