We made it back home last night with 24 minutes to spare (the Orange County Airport, AKA John Wayne Airport, has an 11:00pm curfew). The flight was supposed to land at 10:15pm but due to the planes late arrival into Dallas/Forth Worth from wherever it was coming from, it left about 40 minutes late but they were able to make-up some of the time so it wasn't as close as they had thought that it would be. Our flight from Detroit to Dallas/Forth Worth was on-time so other than that last flight, we had no delays or problems of any sort over the holidays.
We got to see most of the people on our 'list' with the exception of my kid brother (the priest) as his schedule and ours never meshed and besides, his church is about 90 miles from my sister-in-laws house (where we stayed) so perhaps next time.
The only disappointment was that my wife wanted to see it snow as she does miss that living here in SoCal. However, the last time she made that wish while we were visiting her sister (over Christmas/New Years 2000/2001) we got snowed in and the aIrports were closed for 3 days so I'm just as glad that her wish went unfulfilled this time
