A little socialism is a wonderful thing. Society should take care of its most disadvantaged citizens. However, when large numbers of able bodied peoples are living off the labors of others for multiple generations there is something seriously wrong with the system.
I went looking for 'socialist success stories' . . . and I found this obviously left wing drivel.

Below the fold is 75 ways socialism has improved, shaped, and built America.
(Zim: Much of what it claims is the sort of common sense things governments are supposed to do for their peoples. A little socialism is a good thing, obviously.)
7. Student Loans and Grants - (Zim: How many half wits have we tried to send to college . . . who did not pay back their loans?)
12. Farm Subsidies - (Zim: A farm should be run as a capitalist business - at a profit. Using taxpayer moneys to prop up unprofitable farms only leads to inefficiencies in the markets. Wasting resources and moneys.)
15. Congressional Health Care - (Zim: This is something we really should cut out.)
26. Food Stamps - (Zim: On the one hand I don't like the idea of people starving to death . . . on the other hand, is it really fair to me, who works and buys my own food, to steal the money out of my pocket and provide the best of food for 'poor people' who do no work and pay no taxes? Do you put out food for rats?)
37. Medicaid - Our government uses taxpayer funds to provide health care for low-income people. (Zim: Again . . Why should the middle class be paying for world class health care for the non-working non-taxpaying folks when they can not afford the same level of care for themselves?)
41. Disability Insurance (SSDI) - (Zim: How many folks claim disability who are not really disabled?)

Zim: Every last one of these 'socialist' type programs is laced with fraud and corruption. Especially the ones at the federal level. Government procurement fraud, welfare fraud, food stamp fraud, medicaid fraud, IRS fraud . . . . the lists go on and on and on . . . How to stop it?
Kick these things down to the State or local level. If the local community is supposed to take care of the welfare recipients or the disabled, they are going to actually look at them and decide if they really need and deserve the help.
